Organisational and Interpersonal Skills in Management
Increasing Personal Power
What are you an expert in?
Generating a trusting environment, in which people can explore and progress personal and professional issues.
Working one-to-one or in small personal-development groups, enabling the client to tap into their own resourcefulness to develop as a whole person.
Helping the client recognise and regulate the impact of emotional and physical patterns on performance.
Lecturing in applications of the Centaur model in managerial and executive development.
Working with women moving into managerial roles, and coaching on gender-related challenges.
Teaching the organisational relevance of diversity, the psychology of change, interpersonal skills and conflict-handling.
What is it you are currently thinking about/care about in the world of work?
Most people who come to a Praxis course want to make a difference to the world, in some way, through the work they do. They would also like to make changes to their lives outside work. Not doing either leads to a loss of meaning in both. One result of this is that good people leave organisations for the wrong reasons.
I care passionately about improving the world of work. The difference I want to make is to help people to understand, reconcile and act congruently on these parallel human desires.
What would you like to see change in organisations?
I am continually impressed by the energy, commitment and life-force that people pour into the organisations they work in. I would like to see that human endeavour matched at all levels, by their organisation`s choices in products, services and stakeholder relationships.
What is special about Praxis?
It reaches the parts of a human being that other development organisations do not touch.
Why does the programme you teach at Praxis matter in business?
It is increasingly clear that the professional competence of people working under challenging conditions is linked directly to their sense of personal well-being and self-worth.
Managers and professionals attend the programmes I teach at Praxis to gain insight and skill in managing themselves and others more productively.
How would you describe your teaching style?
When lecturing in a plenary, I like to allow managers the opportunity to experience directly what we are describing in abstract or in principle. This means my style weaves models and concepts with the learner`s own experience and sensations of the subject matter.
The goal is to help the client internalise both cognitive understanding and emotional impact, to sustain the application of the Praxis experience back at work.
